Edgar Degas

Edgar Degas paintings are absolutely fine examples of an artist with style and technical ability combined together to create something breathtaking, again and again. His career was certainly consistent and few other members of the impressionist group left as much an impression as Degas managed.

The ballerinas that you will see below are the topic most commonly associated with this artist and Edgar Degas certainly did revisit ballet dancers regularly and it was clearly a subject which the artist enjoyed and found great inspiration from. Degas was to give horses the same attention during another period in his career but it is more so the dancers that are considered his highest point as a painter.

Edgar Degas Paintings

Edgar Degas Ballet Dancers came in all sorts of positions and groupings, with some paintings placing individual dancers in focus whilst others would have groups if them together, perhaps training for an upcoming event as shown in the painting above.

French impressionism has always been highly respected and gave us some impressive artists but perhaps the reason that Degas stood out from the majority was the way in which he combined the impressionist principles with his own realism techniques which together proved a very popular combination with art fans, as it balanced innovation and tradition together.

We recommend Degas paintings to all those who like ballerinas and horses with in art as this art produced hundreds of paintings and sketches based on these subjects and also did so with in a very highly skilled technical approach that all academics respected.
